Our performers for 2026

 Piatti Quartet

The Piatti have been a Resident Quartet at Kings Place, London for several years now, they are one of the most distinguished quartets of their generation. Prizewinners of   the 2015 Wigmore Hall String Quartet Competition, they have performed in all the major venues and festivals around the country, as well as concerts throughout the world.   They have been nominated for 'Recording of the Year' with Gramophone Magazine, Presto Music and MusicWeb International.

The Piatti have been busy performing, their latest recording is, 'Phantasy', it features the premiere recordings by one of Ireland's most important composers, Ina Boyle.   Piatti have also made a beautiful new arrangement of 19th century Irish composer Augusta Holmès with her Noël d'Irlande. The CD itself is a thing of beauty too, with artwork  by trailblazing early 20th century Irish artist, Mainie Jellett. Other attractions include star turns from singers James Gilchrist and Sharon Carty, a bravura viola performance from Zahra Benyounes in RVW's 'Phantasy Quintet' and neglected quartet masterpieces by Herbert Howells and Malcolm Arnold.

Piatti Reviews

“It here receives one of the finest performances currently available on recordings” Gramophone

“I have several favourite string quartets whose recordings I extol all the time, but the Piatti Quartet is surely one of the very best - ever. Their playing of these string quartets is   beyond awesome; it is simply out of this world” David Rowe, Classical Review CD.

Heath String Quartet

One of the most acclaimed British string quartets, the Heath String Quartet has built a strong reputation for its dynamic and committed performances. Established at the   Royal Northern College of Music, they have since won many prestigious awards.

The Heath Quartet are staff members at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and in 2025 became String Quartet in Residence at Middlesex University.   Recent seasons have included a tour of the USA, a live broadcast with Steven Osborne for the BBC Proms and an appearance on BBC Radio 4’s ‘How to Play’; a highly   acclaimed programme exploring Schubert’s Death and the Maiden. The quartet continued its long association with Wigmore Hall with a four-concert series and gave the   inaugural concert at the newly renovated Brighton Dome Corn Exchange.

This season the quartet are looking forward to another tour of the USA and collaborations with hornist Ben Goldscheider and clarinettist/composer Jörg Widmann.

 Heath Reviews
“The Heath Quartet’s prayerful concentration really paid off in a performance of unforced beauty and tremulous tension, dappled with sudden shadows and anguished   nostalgia for happier times. Each player listened closely to each other; each fell in with Schubert’s feelings as a hand fits the perfect glove.” The Times
“The delicate perfection of the sound was a marvel.” Daily Telegraph

Silja Piano Trio

The Silja Trio was formed in 2022 by students at the RNCM Georgie Bloomfield, the violinist Hanna Csermely is the pianist, and Cillian Hennessy, cellist. Since then,   they have performed at a number of prestigious venues across the country. Additionally, they have participated in numerous masterclasses and coaching sessions at the   RNCM with notable professors including Donald Grant, Jeremy Young, The Paddington Trio and more.
The trio really enjoy sharing their love of music to all audiences and   unearthing hidden repertoire.
This year, following a break from performing together, the Silja Trio are very excited to reunite for their second concert with Music in Allendale!
